Supermoon Phase Detection, BMKG Asks Coastal Residents Of Lampung To Be Alert To Install Water Until March 16

LAMPUNG - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) appealed to the coastal communities of Lampung to be aware of the impact of the maximum tide of sea water.

"We hope that the public can be prepared to anticipate the impact of the maximum tide of sea water and pay attention to the development of maritime weather information from the Maritime Long Meteorological Station," said Lampung Maritime BMKG forecast officer Meldisa Putri, in Bandarlampung, Wednesday, March 13, as reported by Antara.

BMKG Lampung predicts a maximum tide accompanied by the Supermoon phase, so that it has the potential to cause an increase in sea level on March 13-16

"This is the Perigee phase or the closest distance from the earth to the moon, so there may be sea water levels," he said.

According to him, the increase in the maximum sea level on March 13-16 has the potential for flooding in a number of coastal areas in Lampung Province.

"Regions that have the potential for flooding include the Bandarlampung City Coast, Tanggamus Regency, South Lampung, Pesawaran, East Lampung and the West Coast of Lampung," he said.

According to him, this condition, in general, can disrupt the activities of people around ports and coasts, such as loading and unloading activities at ports, activities in coastal settlements, and land fisheries.

"Therefore, we urge people on the coast to always be vigilant and alert to the influence of the maximum tide of sea water," he said.
