Cianjur Police Chase Sadistic Murder Perpetrators

The Cianjur Resort Police, West Java, spread members to pursue SR (50), the perpetrator of the murder of Sopyan (45), a resident of Sukaluyu District, who was found dead with stab wounds all over his body on Tuesday, while collecting debts at the perpetrator's house.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Cianjur Police, Adjunct Commissioner of Police Tono Listianto in Cianjur, Tuesday, said that the victim Sopyan who was asked to come to the perpetrator's house in Kampung Kabandungan, Hegarmanah Village, Karangtengah District, had no suspicion at all and left with his nephew.

"The perpetrator promised to pay a debt of Rp. 3.5 million which the victim had often billed at night at his house. The victim was escorted by his nephew who came towards midnight," he said.

The victim, who was not suspicious, went straight into SR's house, while his nephew waited outside the house. After a few minutes from inside the house, a scream for help was heard when the victim was bombarded with a sharp weapon by the perpetrator of SR. The perpetrator even chased the victim's nephew who managed to escape.

The victim's nephew immediately ran towards a shop owned by residents in the village who were still open while reporting the incident that happened to his uncle. He also asked residents to help save his uncle. Furthermore, the owner of the shop named Daniel reported to the Karangtengah Police.

"Currently we have deployed members to hunt down the perpetrators who managed to escape after officers came to the scene. The victim was taken to Cianjur Hospital for a post-mortem before being handed out and buried," he said.

Meanwhile, according to information from the shop owner who had been asked to help the victim's nephew, the victim had often collected a debt of Rp. 3.5 million from the perpetrator who always argued that he did not have money. Even on Monday (11/3) afternoon, the victim had time to stop by the shop while complaining about the same thing.

"The victim often stops by my shop when he has asked the perpetrator. On Monday afternoon the victim stopped by and told him that the perpetrator would pay his debt at midnight so that the victim came back and was immediately bombarded with a sharp weapon from the perpetrator SR," he said.

He and the residents who were asked to help had doubts about approaching SR's house because of information from the victim's nephew who survived, the perpetrator had chased himself with a machete that was still covered in blood. After the police officers arrived, residents found the victim's body lying outside the perpetrator's house.

"While the perpetrator was no longer in the house, the possibility of escaping. The police and residents took the victim's body to Cianjur Hospital," said Daniel.
