BMKG Issues Early Warning, A Number Of Areas Have The Potential For Heavy Rain To Cause Floods

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued an early warning for a number of areas in Indonesia that have the potential to experience heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds. In fact, some areas can be affected by flooding due to heavy rains.

In the BMKG weather warning quoted from Jakarta, Monday, March 11, a number of points in the provinces that are predicted to experience heavy rain are North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Bengkulu, Jambi, Bangka Belitung Islands, Lampung, Banten, West Java, DKI Jakarta, Special Region of Yogyakarta, and East Java.

In addition, heavy rains also have the potential to fall in the regions of West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Maluku, West Papua, and Papua.

Meanwhile, rain with lighter intensity has the potential to occur in South Sumatra, Central Java, Bali, and South Kalimantan.

Quoted from ANTARA, heavy rains can fall in a number of major cities in Indonesia including Semarang, Banjarmasin, Pangkal Pinang, Bandar Lampung and Mamuju. With the rain being predicted to occur in Yogyakarta, Palangka Raya, and Kupang.

Especially for the DKI Jakarta area, moderate rain has the potential to fall in South Jakarta and East Jakarta and the Thousand Islands. Meanwhile, light rain occurred in West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, and North Jakarta.

BMKG includes a number of areas in the alert category for the impact of heavy rains such as floods. Including areas in West Sumatra, Lampung, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, Special Region of Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, NTB, and NTT.

The alert category was also given on Monday to West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, West Sulawesi, Maluku, West Papua, and Papua.
