PALEMBANG - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Regional Division (Divre) III Palembang said the coal train service had returned to normal, which was previously hampered by the collapse of the Mantaian flyover on the plot of Jalan Gunung Megang- Penanggiran, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra, Thursday (7/3).

Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Divre III Palembang Aida Suryanti said that after the evacuation of the facilities and material girder that had been carried out since the collapse of the Wantaian flyover girder, starting Friday (8/3) at 14:14 WIB the upstream route had been passed, then at 23.30 WIB the downstream route could also be passed by trains at limited speed.

"However, the speed will be increased gradually if the path repairs have been carried out according to the standard speed set after being confirmed by KAI officers at the Palembang III Divre," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, March 9.

He explained that train operational services are gradually returning to normal, both the Kertapati-Lubuklinggau (PP) passenger train and freight trains, especially the Tanjung Enim Baru coal train to Tarahan due to supplying PLTU Suralaya to support the national energy supply of Java and Bali.

"PT KAI has mobilized all capabilities so that the evacuation at the scene can be completed immediately so that train operations can return to normal, because apart from serving passenger transportation, KAI has an assignment for coal transportation from the government to support the national energy supply that we have to carry out," he explained.
