Bad Weather At Merak Port, Bakauheni Crossing Normal

LAMPUNG - PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero), Bakauheni Branch, Lampung said that the situation of crossing at Bakauheni Port to Merak, Banten is in normal condition.

"For crossing services at the port of Bakauheni Lampung, for now, it is normal, just a delay in schedule, because the weather conditions in the Merak port area are bad, so there is a delay in the ship," said General Manager of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry, Bakauheni Branch, Rudi Sunarko, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, March 9.

He said the bad weather at the port of Merak Banten made a queue of vehicles in the parking area of Bakauheni port to wait for the ship to enter.

"So there is a delay in the ship's docking, so it makes the accumulation of vehicles in the parking bag area because it is waiting for the ship to dock," he said.

However, his party ensures that crossing activities at Bakauheni port are normally smooth, and he appealed to prospective ship passengers to always pay attention to information from the BMKG's official website regarding weather monitoring.

"For the current weather at Bakauheni port, good, normal and the ship also docked well, there are no obstacles that hinder crossing activities," he said.

He also appealed to the public to remain aware of the potential for bad weather that occurs, especially on the busiest Bakauheni-Merak track.

In addition, service users are required to follow the directions of officers at ports and ships to support safety and security together. Make sure when crossing, the condition of passenger and vehicle stamina is in prime condition.

To note, previously circulated videos of extreme weather at Merak Port which caused high waves and made a number of vehicles such as four-wheeled vehicles, trucks and motorcycles difficult to get in and out of the ship.
