Lampung Police Arrest Malaysian Drug Network, 87.5 Kg Of Methamphetamine Confiscated

Lampung Police revealed two narcotics networks from Malaysia, which are international syndicates and often use the province as a route to smuggling.

"We can reveal two networks of methamphetamine-type narcotics from Malaysia, with a total of 87.5 kilograms of confiscated evidence of methamphetamine," said Lampung Police Chief Inspector General Helmy Santika as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 6.

The two international syndicates who were involved in using Lampung as a route to smuggle narcotics into Java were exposed in two different incidents.

"From the results of the disclosure of cases from these two syndicates, as many as 20 suspects were arrested with a total value of evidence that was confiscated reaching Rp. 131 billion," said Helmy.

Director of the Directorate of Drug Investigation (Ditresnarkoba) of the Lampung Regional Police, Kombes Erlin Tangjaya, explained that the first disclosure of the international narcotics syndicate occurred on Tuesday (5/2) at Bakauheni Port.

"Our first disclosure managed to confiscate evidence from the suspect as much as 52.4 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine that was to be smuggled using private vehicles," he said.

"The methamphetamine was found hidden in a black bag, consisting of 33 packs, and placed behind the passenger seat. From the second syndicate, five people were arrested," he said.
