Chairman of the DKI Jakarta Democratic Party DPD, Mujiyono, stated that his party respects the process of reporting cases of alleged money politics by the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) against two candidates for legislative members (caleg) of his party in DKI Jakarta.

"It has been handled by Bawaslu. We respect the process," said Mujiyono, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 6.

Mujiyono said this when responding to Bawaslu's move to investigate the alleged money politics case with the reported candidate for DPR RI member from the DKI Jakarta 2 electoral district Melani Leimena Suharli and a candidate for member of the DKI Jakarta Provincial DPRD from the DKI Jakarta 7 electoral district Ali Muhammad Johan.

The case is currently being investigated by South Jakarta Bawaslu and Central Jakarta Bawaslu.

Mujiyono has not disclosed the decisive steps that will be taken by the Democratic Party if Melani and Ali are proven to have committed money politics.

He also did not provide a straightforward answer when asked about the possibility of the Democratic Party processing Melani and Ali to the level of the Party Court if found guilty.

He emphasized that the Democrats would follow the ongoing process.

"We follow the process first," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy of Bappilu DPP of the Democratic Party Kamhar Lakumani said that his party would pay attention to cases of alleged money politics in Bawaslu that dragged the names of the Democratic Party candidates as reported.

According to him, his party will coordinate with the BHPP DPP of the Democratic Party to provide assistance.

If there are Democratic candidates who are reported to Bawaslu, of course it will be of our concern. We will continue to monitor. Later we will coordinate with the DPP PD BHPP for assistance," he explained.

Previously, Melani and Ali were reported to Bawaslu for allegedly committing money politics the day before the 2024 election vote.

A member of the Bawaslu for Handling Violations and Information Data, Paudi, said that the Democrat Party candidate, who is a mother and child, is suspected of carrying out money politics in two locations, namely Johar Baru, Central Jakarta and Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta.

"That's right, Bawaslu on February 21, 2024, has received two reports of alleged money politics related to one of the candidates for DPR RI members for Electoral 2 and a candidate for DKI Provincial DPRD member for Electoral 7," he said.
