JAKARTA - Head of the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) Benny Rhamdani believes that Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Hadi Tjahjanto is more aggressive in fighting the syndicate of people trafficking crimes (TPPO).

Benny explained that this belief arose after seeing Hadi's track record while serving as Minister of Agrarian Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) fighting the land mafia.

"In the context (of playing) a syndicate that has been (in) the BP2MI program, it turns out that we are dealing with a tougher leader actually. The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs in the structure of the Task Force occupies the position of Chair I, who leads with Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy as Chair II. Meanwhile, the Daily Chair of the TIP Task Force was filled by the National Police Chief, General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

Related to that, Benny said that so far BP2MI has the slogan "TIP Syndicate Brush!", while Hadi in his meeting with BP2MI also supported the movement with the motto "Gebuk Sindikat!"

"He conveyed various things earlier that he directed me as his subordinate directly in the Task Force that how we should encourage the state to continue to be present, the state must not lose and compromise against syndicates and mafia, and how this collaboration is most important so that the tune and frequency in fighting the trade syndicate of people can be the same in the field," said Benny.

Therefore, after today's meeting, Benny said that the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs would come directly to the BP2MI Office to directly check the database of Indonesian migrant workers abroad. Then, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, as conveyed by Benny, also plans to hold a coordination meeting with the National Police Chief to evaluate the work of eradicating TIP syndicates in Indonesia.

"He will immediately invite the National Police Chief so that the Task Force immediately has a coordination meeting, then establish an SOP (operational standard), determine the division of tasks from each ministry/institution," said Benny.

The Head of BP2MI said the number of PMIs abroad currently reaches 4.9 million workers.
