JAKARTA - PDIP DPP chairman Djarot Saiful Hidayat said he personally proposed the right of inquiry to investigate allegations of fraud in the 2024 General Election. He considered that the desire of council members to roll out the right of inquiry could not be hindered. "If this is the right of each member of the council, I personally propose, so what? So that we can evaluate the policies carried out by the government, and it uses a very large APBN," said Djarot at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, March 5. According to Djarot, the right of inquiry is necessary so that all parties are confident that the 2024 election will really be carried out in accordance with the corridors of the democratic constitution and the principles of election that are overflowing. Djarot also asked the government not to worry and think negatively regarding the revolving of the right to inquiry in the DPR. On the other hand, he said, this inquiry must be received properly. "So the government doesn't have to worry, the government doesn't have to think about what is not. But we want that the government can provide an answer, can provide an explanation so that what is developing in the community among academics, students can be neutralized, it can be explained as well as possible by the government in such a way. So the people can see that the election is running well, it is really legitimatious, "explained the member of Commission II of the DPR. "So it's best, let us open ourselves up. Because the right of inquiry process is not an instant process, which is short. So it's quite long," he continued. Djarot added that the right of inquiry is a momentum to improve the quality of Indonesian democracy. Even if there are weaknesses and shortcomings, according to him, the results of the inquiry can be used as a part to perfect the implementation of the regional elections in November 2024.

"Even if there are irregularities and fraud there, let's fix it, especially in policy. For example, the distribution of social assistance because soon we will face the regional elections, November 27. So the momentum to use this," he concluded.
