West Java Mourns, Mang Ihin's Community Leader Dies At 97 Years Old

BANDUNG - Former Governor of West Java and officer of Kodam III Siliwangi Lt. Gen. TNI (Ret.) Solihin GP died at 03.09 WIB. Tuesday, February 5 morning.

Based on information received by ANTARA, in Bandung, Tuesday, the man who is familiarly called Mang Ihin died while being treated at Adventt Hospital, Bandung City.

The news of the death of Solihin GP was also confirmed by the spokesman for the family as well as the Head of Infokom, the Forestry and Environmental Observer Council of the Sunda Tatar (DPKLTS) Taufan Suranto.

"Innalillahi wainnailaihi rojiun. Has passed away to Rahmatullah Lieutenant General TNI Retired. H. Solihin GP (Mang Ihin), an elder of West Java and Siliwangi, an environmental fighter and founder of the Tatar Sundanese Environmental Observer Council (DPKLTS) after 97 years on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 03.09 WIB at the Advent Hospital in Bandung. Hopefully the late khutimah and his family will be given fortitude, aamiin YRA," said Taufan in his short message.

The plan is that the deceased will be taken to a large family house on Jalan Cisitu Indah, Dago, Bandung at 07.00-09.00 WIB. Then, the deceased will be taken to Mako II Kodam III Siliwangi on Jalan Sumbawa Number 22 Bandung at around 09.30 to 12.30 WIB.

Furthermore, the deceased will be buried at the Cikutra Heroes Cemetery (TMP) at around 13.30 WIB.

Solihin GP was born on July 21, 1926, he is a former TNI officer who served as Governor of West Java in 1970-1975.

Quoted from various sources, he started his military career during the revolution as commander of the People's Security Army (TKR) in Bogor Regency, then joined the Siliwangi Division.

One of his roles that sticks out is when he overcomes the food crisis in Indramayu by socializing rice called gogo rancah.

He is also known as an elder of West Java and Siliwangi, an environmental fighter and founder of the Sunda Forestry and Environment Observer Council (DPKLTS).
