Corruption Court To Hold Verdict In Case Of Brigadier General Prasetijo Utomo Next Week

JAKARTA - The panel of judges at the Corruption Court decided to hold a verdict in the case of alleged bribery for the removal of red notice for the accused, Brigadier General Prasetijo Utomo, next week.

The presiding judge Muhammad Damis said that he was chosen during the trial of the verdict because the panel of judges had to deliberate first.

"The panel of judges will deliberate over the decision on Wednesday, March 10, 2021", Damis said at the hearing.

Meanwhile, the defendant, Brigadier General Prasetijo Utomo, through his attorney asked the panel of judges to grant his request as a justice collaborator.

The reason was that Brigadier General Prasetijo had returned the money previously given by Tommy Sumardi. Also, the defendants were cooperative during the trial.

"That Brigadier General Prasetijo has submitted a request for Justice Collaborator because he has returned USD 200 thousand. Therefore, we ask the panel of judges to grant the Justice Collaborator's request", Brigadier General Prasetijo's attorney, Rolas Sitinjak.

For information, Brigadier General Prasetijo Utomo was charged with imprisonment for 2 years and 6 months. He was also demanded to pay a fine of IDR 100 million, a subsidiary of 6 months.

The prosecutor considered that Prasetijo Utomo was proven guilty and convinced of accepting bribes in the removal of red notice for Joko Tjandra. The prosecutor asked the judge to find Prasetijo guilty.

Brigjen Prasetijo Utomo is said to have received 100,000 US dollars. This money was a bribe to remove Djoko Tjandra's name from the red notice list.
