DKI Provincial Government Denies Closing Infiltration Wells In The Anies Era

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has denied that infiltration wells in Jakarta were closed, resulting in flooding a few days ago, as narrated on social media.

"The Water Resources Service (SDA) has not ordered the closure of infiltration wells on the road," said Acting Head of the Water Resources (SDA) Office, Ika Agustin Ningrum, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 4.

Ika said, if there are infiltration wells that are closed, the DKI SDA Office will check for maintenance so that infiltration wells can function as they should by paying attention to the safety and comfort of road users.

In addition, the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta through natural resources is also committed to tackling flooding. One of them is by still budgeting for the maintenance of infiltration wells in each Natural Resources Sub-Department in five administrative areas of DKI Jakarta Province.

The flooding in Jakarta a few days ago occurred due to several causes. One of them is extreme rainfall for a long time so that it exceeds the existing drainage capacity.

Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartonolah checked and ensured the function of the Sentiong Water Pump House in Ancol, North Jakarta, after the capital city was rained, causing inundation and flooding at a number of points.

"Today I was invited by the Head of the DKI Water Resources Service (SDA) to check one pump point in Ancol and the condition of Jakarta rained an average of 160 millimeters," he said.

"Last night, it continued to rain and today it is still cloudy and we make sure all pumps are running well," said Heru at Ancol Pump Station, North Jakarta, Thursday (29/2).
