SAR Team Searches For Two Children Who Were Dragged By The Current In Mampang River, South Jakarta

The joint SAR team is looking for two children from Bangka Village, South Jakarta, who were swept away while playing and swimming in Mampang River.

"Initially there were seven children playing around the Mampang River, two of whom were swept away while swimming," said Mampang Police Chief, South Jakarta Police Commissioner David Yunior Kanito in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Saturday, March 2.

According to him, the joint SAR team from the Mampang Police, BPBD, Firefighters, residents and others are currently looking for two children who were reported to have been swept away by the flow of the Mampang River.

He said the incident began with the presence of seven children playing in Kali Mampang, at around 14.00 WIB.

Then continued Kanito, of the seven children, six of them took a bath in Mampang River, two of them were then swept away by the current, and their friends tried to save them by holding their hands, but it was released because the current was fast.

"Children who tried to help on behalf of Ramdan (16) who are currently being rushed to the puskesmas, are having difficulty breathing," he said.

Kanito added that the two children who were still being searched were Fais (15), and April (14), while the other five survived.

According to him, the joint team continues to try to find the two victims who were swept away by using rubber boats to trace the Mampang River.

"The SAR and Damkar teams will lower two boats to comb all the time in an effort to find victims," he said.
