Optimism Of Indonesian KPU Members Regarding Re-voting In Kuala Lumpur

JAKARTA - Member of the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU), Mochammad Afifuddin, expressed optimism about the re-voting (PSU) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which is scheduled to take place from March 9 to 10, 2024.

Afifuddin, at the Indonesian KPU Office, Jakarta, Saturday, March 2, said, "Bismillah, the PSU is on target from March 9-10."

Previously, the Chairman of the Indonesian KPU, Hasyim Asy'ari, had explained that the PSU in Kuala Lumpur would use two methods and would last for two days.

"The method that will be used for PSU in Kuala Lumpur is the TPS method and a mobile ballot box (KSK)," said Hasyim at the Indonesian KPU Office, Jakarta, Tuesday.

The PSU with the KSK method is planned to be implemented on March 9, 2024, while the postal method will be carried out the following day, March 10, 2024.

Hasyim also explained that the Voting Organizing Group (KPPS) will oversee the voting process from start to finish for the KSK method. The results of the two methods are expected to be calculated simultaneously, so that the recapitulation of vote counting at PPLN Kuala Lumpur can be completed until March 12, 2024.

KPU's steps in holding PSU in Kuala Lumpur are aimed at updating voter data. The process of collecting voter list data in 2023 shows that only about 12 percent of the total 490 thousand voters have been matched and researched (coklit) in the data of potential voter population (DP4) from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
