Gold Shop In West Kutai Broken Into, 3 Women And 1 Male Perpetrator Arrested

After taking action in two places, a gang of specialists in robbery of cross-provincial gold shops was finally arrested by the West Kutai Police Satreskrim team, East Kalimantan.

From the hands of the gang of four people, three of whom were women, the police found a number of gold jewelry from the robbery with a total loss estimated at hundreds of millions of rupiah.

From the arrest of the gang, the police arrested 4 suspects. The four suspects are a man with the initials DK (30) and three women, each with the initials DH, SI, and SU.

This gang was arrested after robbing two different gold shops in West Kutai Regency, on February 27, 2024.

From this action, this cross-provincial gold shop robbery gang managed to steal gold jewelry with a total weight of 125 grams, with a total loss estimated at hundreds of millions of rupiah.

West Kutai Police Chief, AKPB Kade Budiyarta said a gang of specialists in this gold shop robbery took action in two different places in the jurisdiction of the West Kutai Police within one day.

In the first gold shop, this gang managed to steal gold jewelry with a total weight of 56 grams, while in the second gold shop, this gang managed to rob 69 grams of gold jewelry.

"So I conveyed their action, their action was carried out during the day, that was the first at Ma'rifah's gold shop. Then they shifted to trying to Melak, but it didn't work, there was a shop that didn't work, shifted to the intersection, in the true gold shop they managed to carry out the action," said Kade.

According to him, after taking action in two gold shops, the police who received reports from the public immediately gave chase by following a car used by the suspect while raiding a gold shop.

At that time, the minibus vehicle used by the gang was on its way to carry out a robbery at another gold shop. However, before taking action in the third gold shop, this gang was arrested by the police.

From the hands of this gang of gold shop robbery specialists, the police also found evidence in the form of stolen gold jewelry with a total weight of 125 grams.

"On the way to take this next action, there have been reports from the public regarding the irregularities in the vehicles they used. Then our members carried out the follow-up to Muara Lawa. Before carrying out the action, we immediately secured the perpetrators and we found these items. Based on the interrogation, they said that they got these items from the two places, "explained Kade.

Based on the results of the interim examination, the four suspects are specialists in inter-provincial gold shop robbery. The perpetrators often act in a number of other areas on the islands of Kalimantan and Sulawesi.

The motive, so far is due to economic pressure, because the suspects are in debt in their area of origin.

"These perpetrators, inter-provincial actors, and their motives that we are exploring, are based on economic pressure, debt in their area in Sulawesi," he added.

Now, the four suspects must serve a sentence behind bars, charged under Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning theft with weight, with the threat of a sentence of seven years in prison.
