Bawaslu Calls KPU Not Doing PSU According To Recommendations

The Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) said the General Elections Commission (KPU) did not follow up on all recommendations related to re-voting (PSU), post-voting (PSS), and further voting (PSL).

Bawaslu member Lolly Suhenty said the KPU only carried out recommendations at 1,521 polling stations (TPS). In fact, Bawaslu issued 1,692 voting recommendations with details of 890 PSU, 146 PSL, and 666 PSS.

"The PSU cannot be implemented based on a KPU study, it is not possible to hold it in accordance with the provisions (imposibility of performance) and/or recommendations are carried out before 10 days after the vote so that there is not enough time for the KPU to prepare PSU logistics," said Lolly in a written statement in Jakarta, Thursday, February 29.

It is known that the KPU implemented PSU recommendations for PSU at 729 polling stations (82%) and did not implement it at 84 polling stations (9%).

Then, there are 136 PSL recommendations, the KPU implements PSL at 135 TPS (99%) and does not implement it at one TPS (1%).

Loly explained that PSL could not be implemented based on Bawaslu's study because the KPU did not allow PSL to be held in accordance with applicable regulations.

Furthermore, for the 666 PSS recommendations, the KPU implemented PSS at 657 TPS (99%) and was unable to implement PSS at nine polling stations (1%).

PSS cannot be carried out at nine polling stations in Waropen Regency, Papua Province due to conflicts between communities that want to share ballots between candidates.

In that division there is no common ground and is currently in the process of being investigated.

In addition, there are 77 PSU recommendations that were not followed up because they did not receive a reply letter that occurred in 4 provinces, namely:

Central Sulawesi (Banggai Islands 1, Donggala 2), West Java 3 (City of Bekasi 3), Maluku 23 (City of Ambon 3, West Seram 19, Central Maluku 1), and Papua 48 ( Jayapura Regency).

"Against this, Bawaslu carried out a follow-up through a mechanism for handling violations in accordance with applicable regulations," concluded Lolly.
