The AMIN National Team For Prabowo's Strong Criticism Was Awarded By The Honorary General: He Was Initially Fired, Even Becomes A Bad Precedent

JAKARTA - The National Team for Winning Anies-Muhaimin (Timnas AMIN) responded to the awarding of a special promotion to Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto from President Joko Widodo.

A spokesman for the AMIN National Team, Angga Putra Fidrian, assessed that the granting of the rank of a four-star general was inappropriate because Prabowo had been dismissed from his position in the TNI.

"This is a question from many people, because he was initially fired for ethical violations. It's a shame. Now being a general of honor, it's a bad precedent for TNI friends who move in the name of meritocracy," Angga told reporters, Wednesday, February 28.

Angga admitted that he was surprised if Prabowo's promotion to become a four-star general was given because he had served the community during his career in the military, why hasn't it been done for so long.

Meanwhile, currently Prabowo is a presidential candidate accompanied by vice presidential candidate Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Jokowi's eldest son.

"If you really want to be an honorary general, why didn't you become Minister of Defense at the beginning? Why now after winning the quick count version of the election, is that right? Maybe, there is a certain agenda that is compromised by Pak Jokowi and Pak Prabowo?" he said.

Prabowo today received a special promotion from a three-star retired general to an honorary four-star general from Jokowi.

In the 2024 TNI leadership meeting (rapid) at TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, Jakarta, Jokowi awarded the award to the Minister of Defense because he was considered meritorious and contributed to the nation's development, especially in the field of defense and security.

"I would like to convey the awarding of a special rank in the form of an honorary TNI General to Mr. Prabowo Subianto. This award is a form of appreciation as well as affirmation to fully serve the people, to the nation, and to the state," said President Jokowi at the TNI-Polri Rapim event at TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 28.

In a series of meetings, President Jokowi continued to release the three-star general's rank, and pinned the four-star general's rank to Prabowo, as well as hand over the presidential decree (keppres) which became the basis for the promotion of the special rank. Prabowo in the event wore the TNI PDU uniform complete with a brevet, sign of service, and honor.

Prabowo received a special promotion based on Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 13/TNI/2024 which was signed by President Jokowi on February 21, 2024.

Thus, as of today, the Indonesian Defense Minister officially holds the title of General of the TNI (HOR)" in front of his name. He added a row of retired TNI officers who received the award of promotion to the special rank of honorary general after Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Hendropriyono, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, and Sarwo Edhie Wibowo.
