Airlangga Calls Jokowi Playing A Role In The Formation Of The Next Cabinet, TKN: That's Prabowo's Domain

JAKARTA - Secretary of the National Campaign Team (TKN) Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Nusron Wahid, responded to a statement by the General Chairperson of Golkar regarding President Joko Widodo or Jokowi will play a role in the preparation of cabinets in the next government. Nusron assessed that Prabowo's authority to composition of the cabinet will be determined as the elected president if the KPU is officially announced as the winner of the 2024 presidential election. It is known that candidate pair number 2 Prabowo-Gibran won the presidential election contestation fast or quick count version. "The issue of the role in the government is Pak Prabowo's domain as the President later," Nusron told reporters, Wednesday, February 28. Nusron admitted that he did not know whether President Jokowi would also play a role in drafting the Prabowo-Gibran government cabinet or not. What he explained, the issue of the process of appointing someone in government is the prerogative of the President. "I don't understand. We at TKN are only in the process of winning Prabowo-Gibran to become president and vice president. The rest are the elected presidential domains and are assisted by the elected vice president," said Nusron. However, the Golkar politician considered that it was possible that Prabowo Prabowo would ask President Jokowi for input regarding the composition of the cabinet later. It's just that, like him, the final decision remains in Prabowo's hands as president. "Although in the presidential process, it is possible to ask for suggestions and opinions from various parties, including from Pak Jokowi, the chairman of the coalition party. But the prerogative and final decision remain in the hands of the president," he explained.

Previously, the Coordinating Minister for the Economy as well as the chairman of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, confirmed that President Jokowi would play a role in the new government. However, he did not clearly reveal what Jokowi's involvement would be like in the government for the 2024-2029 period. "Of course there will be a role but we will wait," Airlangga told reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, February 27.
