JAKARTA - The panel of hearings for the code of ethics of the Election Organizers Honorary Council (DKPP) has held a warning for the violation of the code of ethics against KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari regarding the recruitment case for candidates for members of the North Nias Regency KPU for the period 2023-2028.

The trial assembly stated that Hasyim was proven to have violated the provisions of Article 44 Paragraph 1 of KPU Regulation (PKPU) Number 4 of 2023 in conjunction with Article 6 Paragraph 2 letter c, Article 6 paragraph 3 letter a and i, Article 11 letter c of DKPP Regulation Number 2 of 2017 concerning Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct for General Election Organizers.

The case with a complainant named Linda Hepy Kharisda Geaitu is registered with case number 140-PKE-DKPP/XII/2023.

"Imposing a warning sanction to Defendant I, Hasyim Asy'ari, as chairman and member of the General Elections Commission since this decision was read out," said Chairman of the DKPP Assembly Heddy Lugito as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 28.

In an official statement from the DKPP, the case was reported by Linda who gave power of attorney to Roynal Christian Pasaribu, Akhmad Sururi Azis, and Donny Ferdiansyah.

Linda is a candidate for the elected KPU of North Nias Regency for the 2023-2028 period.

Apart from Hasyim, the complainant also complained to two other people to the DKPP, namely North Sumatra Provincial KPU Chairman Agus Arifin and North Nias Regency KPU Secretary Petrus Hamonagan Panjaitan. Both were also given similar sanctions.

The complainant complained to Hasyim to the DKPP for suddenly replacing Lainda, so that he failed to be appointed as a member of the North Nias Regency KPU elected for the period 2023-2028.

Previously, Linda's name had been listed in the announcement of candidates for elected KPU members in districts and cities issued by the Indonesian KPU.

The Assembly said that Hasyim made the change because he received information that Linda was still listed as a member of a political party.

However, Hasyim did not clarify directly to Linda and only clarified to the KPU of North Sumatra Province.

On that basis, the DKPP assembly considered Hasyim to have committed a violation for not conducting direct clarification to Linda.

Based on the provisions of Article 44 Paragraph 2 of PKPU Number 4 of 2023 concerning Selection of Provincial KPU Members and Regency/City KPU, the KPU needs to verify and clarify members of the selection team and candidates for members of the provincial, district and city KPU who are suspected of violating the selection.

"Ordered the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) to carry out this decision," said Heddy.
