BOYOLALI - Department of Agriculture (Dispertan) Boyolali Regency, Central Java, said that rat pests attack 254 hectares of rice plants in three sub-districts in this area. Joko Suhartono explained that in Sawit District, rice plants that were attacked by rat pests covering an area of around 181 ha were in Gombang Village, Kateguhan, Bendosari, Jatirejo and Manjung. In Nogosari District, namely in Guli Village, Sembungan and Jeros, a total of 51 ha were attacked by rat pests. In Mojosongo District in Keragilan Village, which was attacked by rat pests covering an area of 22 ha. Efforts made by Dispertan with farmers, he said, carried out a control movement (Gerdal), by providing the assistance of the rat poison Rodensida. His party together with farmer groups in Sawit District, on Friday (1/3), there was a mass movement in Gombang, Manjung, and Cataguhan villages in the form of environmental Sanitation, the installation of toxic bait or Rodentisida, and the infiltration to eradicate rat pests in the area. His party this year, there is also assistance from the Bird House (RUBUHA) for the conservation of the natural enemy of rat pests. Farmers who experience attacks above 80 percent and participate in Padi Farmer Business Insurance (AUTP) can file insurance claims through existing mechanisms. "Some have submitted insurance claims for farmers who participate in insurance or are registered with the AUTP," he said. He said the rat pest control movement had been carried out both by farmers and Dispertan in a good way in the form of environmental sanitation, the installation of toxic bait (Rodensida), as well as infiltration, but in the rainy season rat pests were rampant. However, Dispertan together with farmer groups in Sawit District will carry out a mass movement to control rat pests in the villages of Manjung, Keteguhan and Gombang which will be held on March 1, 2024, simultaneously. Thus, rat pests in Boyolali can be resolved. He said the Boyolali Regency Dispertan maintains rice crop production by carrying out various activities to achieve the production target of around 278,021 tons of milled dry unhulled rice (GKG) in 2024. According to him, the estimated rice production in Boyolali Regency in February 2024 with a planting area of 2,287 ha and a planting area of 3,751 ha with a production of around 20,942 tons of milled dry unhulled rice or 12,018 tons of rice equivalent.

He hopes that Boyolali in early March 2024, starting from harvest, can run smoothly and there will be no disturbance in disease pests in rice plants during the current rainy season. Thus, Boyolali will continue to experience a rice surplus in the future. And the production target of 278,021 tons of GKG in 2024 can be met.
