Bandung Police, West Java are investigating a single accident case experienced by a motorcycle rider who died due to being wrapped in a cable stretching on Jalan Peta-Kopo, Bandung City on Sunday (25/2) night.

"We are still investigating (who owns the cable)," said Head of Gakkum Satlantas Polrestabes Bandung, AKP Arif Saepul Haris in Bandung, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, February 26.

Arif said the investigation would be carried out by the Criminal Investigation Department because it was suspected that there was an element of negligence from the cable owner, causing a motorcyclist named Dodih (59) to die.

"Because this is the negligence of the party with the cable, we involve Criminal Investigation Unit. We are still investigating the ownership of the cable. We will handle it about the accident," he said.

At the time of the incident, the victim passed at 19.15 WIB while heading West on Jalan Peta and fell because he was caught in a cable on the neck.

"The Yamaha Jupiter Z motorcycle driven by Dodih drove from east to west on Jalan Peta Bandung, at the scene of the incident caught in a cable that stretched down blocking Jalan Peta from east to west," said Arif.

As a result of the single accident, the victim Dodih died on the spot and was evacuated to Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS), Bandung City.

Meanwhile, the Communication and Social Responsibility Manager of the West Java Distribution Main Unit PLN, Dindin Mulyadin, emphasized that the cross-sectional cable that allegedly caused the death of the victim was not his.

"After being checked in the field by the PLN team, it turned out that it was not a PLN cable," he said.

Dindin said he did not know for sure the owner of the cable and his party only checked the cable, not PLN's.
