North Korea-Russia Relations Regarding Ballistic Missile Exports Investigated By G7 Leaders Including The US-UK

JAKARTA - The leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) countries strongly condemned arms transactions between North Korea (North Korea) and Russia. The condemnation was amid the two anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

According to a joint statement by G7 leaders consisting of the United States (US), Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Canada and Japan, they emphasized that transactions between Pyongyang and Moscow violate UN Security Council (UNSCR) Resolutions.

"We strongly condemn North Korea's exports and the purchase of missiles by Russia, which is a direct violation of the relevant UNSCR and call on the two countries to immediately stop the activity," G7 members said in the statement.

The US government has revealed that North Korea gave Russia several dozen ballistic missiles, some of which were fired at targets in Ukraine on December 30, January 2, and January 6.

In addition, the US State Department revealed that North Korea has delivered more than 10,000 containers of ammunition or ammunition-related materials to Russia since September 2023.

In the statement, G7 leaders also expressed concern about the transfer of materials and components to the use of double weapons and military production equipment from businesses in China to Russia.

Launched in January last year, the G7 member platform coordinated support for funding needs urging Ukraine as well as future economic recovery and reconstruction needs.

Highlighting their steadfast support for Ukraine, G7 leaders said the Ukrainian government and people could rely on G7 support as long as necessary as the country enters its third year of relentless war.
