KPK OTT Governor Of South Sulawesi, Firli Bahuri: Law Enforcement Upholds The Presumption Of Innocence, Waiting For Investigation

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri said that his party would announce the suspect in the arrest operation (OTT), South Sulawesi Governor Nurdin Abdullah. Checks will be carried out on those who are secured.

"Law enforcement must also uphold human rights. The principle of the presumption of innocence must also be respected. The KPK will announce the suspect after the examination of witnesses and suspects is complete. We'll present them at a press conference," Firli told reporters, Saturday, February 27.

Currently, said Firli, the KPK team is still working on the arrest. The KPK is currently bringing Nurdin along with other parties who were also arrested for further investigation at the KPK building, Jakarta.

"The KPK is still working and gives time for the KPK to work. Later on, we will definitely convey it to the public. Later we will convey who is involved," said Firli.

According to the Criminal Procedure Code, the KPK has 1x24 hours to determine the status of the arrested parties.

Based on VOI's observation, the condition of the residence of South Sulawesi governor Nurdin Abdullah on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Makassar, was observed to be deserted.

Previously, the spokesperson for the South Sulawesi (Sulsel) provincial government, Veronica Moniaga, confirmed that Governor Nurdin Abdullah was brought by the KPK team. Nurdin Abdullah was taken while resting at his office in Makassar.

"Because the governor was resting at that time. As we all know that the hand arrest operation is an operation to catch someone while committing a crime and you are not currently doing it, ”said Veronica to reporters in Makassar, Saturday, February 27.

Veronica confirmed the information from KPK Deputy Chairman Nurul Ghufron. However, the Corruption Eradication Commission emphasized that his team in Makassar carried out a hand arrest operation, although the South Sulawesi provincial government spokesperson brushed it off.

"Nurdin Abdullah was not in the middle of a criminal act when he was picked up by the KPK team. They were accepted at the governor's office and even their patriotism was with the KPK team, ”said Veronica.

"The rest, regarding the information circulating whether it is involved, case A, case B or whatever, we have not received official information about that, so what is the case that later became the basis for you to ask for information," continued Veronica.
