KPU: TPS Officers Who Died As Of February 22 Increased To 90 People

The General Elections Commission (KPU) released data on polling stations (TPS) who died, increasing to 90 people who died.

"TPS officers who died during the voting activities, in our data, from February 14 to 22, 90 people died," said KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari at the KPU office, Central Jakarta, Friday, February 23.

Hasyim explained that the 90 people consisted of 60 members of the Voting Organizing Group (KPPS) and 30 order officers.

Of the 90 officers who died, continued Hasyim, as many as 20 TPS officers have received compensation. The rest is still in process.

"It is a big amount of compensation to the officers who died as a letter from the Minister of Finance through compensation for the SBML costs for the Election stage and the pilkada stage for the greatness of compensation was for those who died Rp36 million, and for funeral assistance costs it was Rp10 million," explained Hasyim.

Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin some time ago said that the biggest risk for election organizers who died was due to hypertension and heart disease.
