Komnas HAM Reveals The Findings Of Regional Heads Not Neutral During The 2024 Election

JAKARTA - The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) revealed the findings of non-neutral state civil servants during the 2024 General Election (Pemilu).

Komnas HAM found this in the village level to the governors in several areas.

"The findings related to the neutrality of state officials are closely related to money politics for winning certain election participants," said member of Komnas HAM Saurlin P. Siagian as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 21.

The findings, including 12 village heads in Buduran District, Sidoarjo Regency, East Java Province, expressed their support for one of the election participants.

In addition, his party also found that there was a coordination meeting of village heads in Temanggung Regency to win certain election participants.

"We also found the direction of the Mayor of Samarinda to his staff to elect certain election participants. Another example is that an ASN in Cianjur Regency was caught red-handed doing money politics to win certain election participants," said Saurlin.

Not only that, but his party also found a video containing an invitation from the Governor of West Kalimantan to invite the ranks of ASN to choose certain candidates.

"This presentation was conveyed by the Acting Governor of West Kalimantan at the anniversary of the West Kalimantan Provincial Government on January 24, 2024," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of Komnas HAM Pramono Ubaid Tanthowi said that the findings had also been submitted to the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu).

Komnas hopes that these findings can be a lesson for the government to remain neutral in the election. Thus, the democratic process can run without the intervention of other parties.

Previously, the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian emphasized that his party had replaced several pj. regional heads who were not neutral ahead of the 2024 General Election.

According to him, the replacement was because based on the results of the evaluation and deepening of information that several pj. regional heads were proven to have violated the principle of neutrality.

"Reports about non-neutral reports that go viral in videos of all kinds do exist. Therefore, I am making replacements," said Tito Karnavian, a discussion entitled "What's Up with the Special Region of Jakarta?" at the Media Center Indonesia Maju, Jakarta, Tuesday (19/12).

Indications of the existence of the pj. regional head who is not neutral are from public reports, including complaints from political parties and from election participants.

From the reports and complaints, the Ministry of Home Affairs then evaluated and took firm steps by removing the Acting Head of the Region.

It was also mentioned by Tito, one of the pj. regional heads who were evaluated, then replaced by the Regent of Kampar Muhammad Firdaus.

"One of the reasons is the Regent of Kampar. One of the reasons is that it is not neutral," said Tito.

As many as 59 regional heads received red report cards in indicators of maintaining ASN neutrality in the 2024 election based on the recapitulation of evaluation assessments by the Ministry of Home Affairs in Jakarta, Tuesday.

The red report card is given to regional head officials who have not fulfilled the indicators in their efforts to maintain ASN neutrality with a score of 059 or fall into the category of less.

In the recapitulation of the assessment, he said, there were also five pj. regional heads who won the yellow report card with a score of 60'79. Meanwhile, 48 pj. other regional heads received green report cards by scoring 80'100 or in good category.
