PDIP Rejects The Use Of The 2024 Election Sirekap, Here's Hadi Tjahjanto's Response

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Hadi Tjahjanto responded to the PDI-P's (PDIP) stance against the use of the Recapitulation Information System (Sirekap) to record the vote acquisition for the 2024 General Election.

As the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs who was just inaugurated today, Hadi admitted that the problematic Sirekap for the 2024 General Election would be followed up. However, Hadi is still focused on keeping the election stages conducive.

"Later, we will complete the mechanism next. We still don't ignore it, but we keep this conducive situation maintained. If necessary, we will coordinate better," said Hadi at the office of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, February 21.

Previously, PDIP stated that it rejected the use of Sirekap. A similar attitude was also conveyed regarding the postponement of the recapitulation of votes at the sub-district level.

This rejection was conveyed by PDIP in the form of a statement letter to the General Election Commission (KPU) on February 20. The chairman of the PDIP Election Winning Body (Bappilu) Bambang Wuryanto or Bambang Pacul signed a letter number 2599/EX/DPP/II/2024 with PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto.

"The PDI-P firmly rejects the use of Sirekap in the process of recapitulating the vote acquisition for the 2024 General Election at all levels of the plenary level," reads the PDIP letter.

PDIP in his letter stated that Sirekap had failed to become an aid for the stages of voting and counting votes at polling stations (TPS). They asked for manual calculations to be carried out in accordance with Article 393 Paragraph (3) of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections.

Meanwhile, the postponement of the recapitulation is considered by PDIP not necessary. The party bearing the bull symbol assesses that there is no urgency that requires this activity to be temporarily suspended.

So they rejected the KPU's direction as the organizer of the election. Because it has opened a gap in fraud in the recapitulation stage of vote count results, and violated the principles of legal certainty, effectiveness and accountability of the organizers of the 2024 General Election," the letter reads.

Then, the KPU was also asked to be responsible as the organizer. You do this by auditing Sirekap who is suspected of having problems.

"Requesting a digital forensic audit for the use of Sirekap tools in holding the 2024 General Election then opens the results of the forensic audit to the public/public as a form of KPU accountability in holding the 2024 General Election," he added.
