AHY Affirms Legal Certainty Related To Land

JAKARTA - Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) emphasized that he wanted to bring legal certainty regarding land issues.

"What is clear is that we want to bring legal certainty and here we need to convince all to obey the law. So no one in our country can openly or behind closed doors against the law and we must side with the small people," AHY said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 21.

This was conveyed by AHY after being inaugurated as Minister of ATR/Head of BPN at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, regarding his views on illegal practices carried out by the land mafia.

AHY wants to side with the people who want to build on their own land. He does not want land mafia practices to prevent all parties from advancing.

"That's what I'm going to do, continue what the previous ministers have done," he said.

AHY also felt optimistic that in the remaining eight months of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet (KIM) period, he would be able to meet the targets of the ministries he leads.

"Every target even though it is ambitious, high and not easy (achieved), I am a person who believes that with hard work, commitment, collaboration, targets can be achieved well," said AHY.AHY was appointed as Minister of ATR/Head of BPN by President Joko Widodo, at the State Palace, Jakarta.

President Widodo in his statement to reporters after the inauguration stated that he was targeting three things that AHY had to solve after being inaugurated as Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN).

First, Jokowi requested that electronic certificates be encouraged more massively. Second, the President asked AHY to complete the issuance of the Cultivation Rights for the carbon trading mechanism. Third, President Jokowi also targets 120 million plots of land to be registered through Complete Systematic Land Registration (PTSL).
