Jokowi Has No Doubt In Providing The Position Of Minister Of ATR To AHY

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) admitted that he did not hesitate to give the position of Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) to Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono or AHY.

"I don't think I hesitate to give a place for the Ministry of ATR/BPN because this is a management matter, I think he will be very ready," said President Jokowi after the inauguration ceremony for state officials at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 21, was confiscated by Antara.

The President explained that AHY is the General Chairperson (Ketum) of the Democratic Party.

In addition to his career in politics, Jokowi also highlighted AHY's education in military and non-military academies.

The head of state said AHY studied at Nanyang University of Technology, Singapore; Harvard University, United States; and Webster University, United States.

Previously, President Jokowi appointed AHY as Minister of ATR/Head of BPN to replace Hadi Tjahjanto, the previous official who was appointed as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.

The inauguration of Hadi and AHY was carried out simultaneously in accordance with Presidential Decree Number 34 P of 2024 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of State Ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet for the 2019-2024 Period, which was set by President Joko Widodo in Jakarta, February 20, 2024.

AHY, who is the first son of the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, started his career in the military by entering the Military Academy (Akmil) in 1997.

The man who was born on August 10, 1978, graduated from the Military Academy in 2000 with the best title and won Bintang Adi Makayasa.

During his military assignment, AHY pursued higher education and obtained three master program postgraduate degrees, namely from Nanyang University of Technology, Singapore, 2006; Harvard University, United States, 2010; and Webster University, United States, 2015.

AHY had a military career to the rank of infantry major, before he decided to withdraw from the TNI at the end of 2016 to seriously enter politics following in his father's footsteps.

AHY first entered politics when he was asked by the Democratic Party, the National Awakening Party (PKB), the United Development Party (PPP), and the National Mandate Party (PAN) to become a candidate for governor in the 2017 DKI Jakarta Pilkada.

Since then, AHY has been active in politics in the Democratic Party and has been assigned the task of commander of the Joint Task Command (Kogasma) for the 2019 Legislative Election.

On March 15, 2020, AHY was asked to become the chairman of the Democratic Party for the 2020-2025 period after receiving support from 34 provinces and 514 districts and cities throughout Indonesia.
