DPR Commission II Leader F-PDIP Reminds AHY Must Understand Land Issues

Chairman of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) was officially appointed as Minister of ATR/BPN by President Joko Widodo this morning. Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the DPR from the PDIP faction, Junimart Girsang, reminded AHY that it is mandatory to understand very complex land and spatial problems.

"In my opinion, the most important thing is that a minister who is placed in ATR/BPN must understand governance regarding land and spatial planning and internal improvements for better work in the future," Junimart said when contacted, Wednesday, February 21.

"As we all know, the chaotic land problem in Indonesia is very complex, intersecting with the interests of the right to community land," he continued.

Even so, the PDIP elite did not question Jokowi's decision to choose AHY as a replacement for Hadi Tjahjanto. According to Junimart, it is the president's prerogative to appoint and place his assistants in running the government.

"Just go, after all, there is no prohibition for that. Some party leaders are also currently in the cabinet. We support as long as it changes the interests of land for the people," said Junimart.

Junimart emphasized that PDIP would never interfere with Jokowi's decision. PDIP, he said, continues to be committed to guarding the Jokowi-Ma'ruf government until the end of his term of office.

"Our party will not interfere with the prerogative of the president. We are guarding the government so far according to the rules. That is our party's commitment. The government is for the people," he said.
