PAN Regarding Surya Paloh Meets Jokowi: Reduce Inter-supporting Tensions

JAKARTA - The National Mandate Party (PAN) welcomes the steps taken by the Chairman of the NasDem Party, Surya Paloh, to meet President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the Palace.

PAN assessed that the meeting reduced tension between supporters of the candidate pair after the quick count or quick count of the 2024 presidential election.

"If there is such a friendship, it will definitely reduce tension between supporters. Especially if the presidential and vice presidential candidates can meet. Of course while waiting for the final results," said PAN faction chairman Saleh Partaonan Daulay, Monday, February 19.

According to the deputy secretary of TKN Prabowo-Gibran, the friendship between political figures after the election is certainly very good. The meeting between Jokowi and Surya Paloh, he said, needs to be imitated by other political figures including fellow candidate pairs.

"The presidential and legislative elections have been completed. The people have made their choice. It is time, everyone sit together. Return to think about what will be done to advance the nation and state," said Saleh.

"Contestation is the goal of finding the best leader. The best for our country. All candidate pairs are certainly considered the best by the bearers. However, the final judge is the people. Therefore, we must respect the people's decision," he continued.

Therefore, Saleh appreciated Surya Paloh's attitude in meeting President Jokowi at the Palace. Moreover, both of them support different candidate pairs.

It is known that Surya Paloh is the bearer of Presidential Candidate number 1, Anies Baswedan and President Jokowi supports Paslon number 2, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

"I consider that it is actually very important. It can be indicated as a form of love for the nation and state. That way, everything becomes calm," he concluded.
