Police Investigate Collision Case That Killed Motorcyclists At JLNT Casablanca

JAKARTA - The Sub-Directorate of Gakkum Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya conducted an investigation regarding the cause of the motorcyclist accident that was killed by a Fortuner car on the Casablanca Non-Toll Flyover (JLNT), Setiabudi District, South Jakarta, early Sunday, February 18.

According to witness testimony at the scene, the victim with the initials MAI (17), an automatic motorcycle rider who had a traffic accident, was hit by a Fortuner car for going against the direction to avoid police raids at JLNT Casablanca, South Jakarta.

Information related to the police raid is still being investigated by the Sub-Directorate of Gakkum Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya.

"Still in investigation, yes. Handled by Gakkum, currently still investigating," said Head of Laka Sub-Directorate for Gakkum Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya, Kompol Diella when confirmed, Sunday, February 18.

Previously, it was reported that an accident involving a motorbike and a Fortuner car while crossing the Casablanca Non-Toll Flyover (JLNT), Setiabudi District, South Jakarta, early Sunday, February 18, apparently the victim was traveling against traffic flow.

The victim was desperate to resist the flow because he tried to avoid traffic raids on motorcyclists who often crossed JLNT Casablanca.

"So we went to sono (the direction of Tebet from Tanah Abang), suddenly from sono (in front of the victim's motorbike) there were those who went against the motorbike. Then he said, there was a police, I was curious. I went there again, (it turned out) it was true that there was a police (the raid)," said Firmansyah, the victim's uncle when confirmed, Sunday, February 18.

The incident occurred at around 02.00 WIB. The victim was hit by a black Fortuner driver who was suspected of being drunk while driving.

The reason is, according to eyewitnesses of the incident, before the accident occurred, the car seemed to be walking zig zage or swerved to the left and right until it finally hit the motorbike the victim was driving.

"I've seen the car from there, the road is right and left but it took him a long time to go left. He (the driver of the car) looks like he's drunk," said Firmansyah, one of the eyewitnesses to the incident who is also the victim's uncle, Sunday, February 18.

Firman said, initially the victim and himself went hand in hand. The motorbike the victim was driving was behind his motorbike. But suddenly the motorbike the victim was driving overtook Firman's motorbike in front of him.

"My pattern suddenly raced me from left like this, eh, immediately jeder (collised). My motorbike was splashed, hit too," he said.

As a result of the incident, the victim died with severe head injuries.
