Six Gangs of Gaza Wangon were arrested after abuse by residents of Lumbir Village/ Photo; Doc. Central Java Police

Six perpetrators of the persecution using sharp weapons (sajam) that occurred in Lumbir Village, Lumbir District, Banyumas Regency were arrested by the Banyumas Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Central Java Police. They are a gang called the Gaza Wangon gang.

The six perpetrators, mostly young people with the initials FD (17) residents of Klabagading Village, Wangon District, YP (19) waga Jambu Village, Wangon, HS (16) residents of Klabagading Kulon Village, AA (16) residents of Klapagading Kulon Village, BP (22) residents of Jambu Village, and TA (19) residents of Klapaga Kulon Village, Banyumas Regency.

The Head of Banyumas Police, Kombes Pol. Edy Suranta Sitepu, through the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, Kompol Adriansyah Rithas Hasibuan, said that the suspect consciously abused the victim with the initials ID (21), a resident of Lumbir Village, Lumbir District, using a sharp weapon that resulted in the victim being injured in the left hand with a severed finger and a torn ring finger.

"So the modus operandi of the perpetrators to abuse was based on revenge because the house of one of the perpetrators was attacked using firecrackers and then the perpetrators took revenge for assault by hitting the victim and using a knife that caused the victim to be injured", said the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, in a written statement, Sunday, February 18.

The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit explained that the incident occurred on Friday, February 16, 2024, at around 23.30 WIB. The chronology was that when the victim was guarding the excavator and his friends, there were 10 people, suddenly a group of people came using 3 motorbikes and immediately attacked the victim and his friends.

At that moment the victim and his friends immediately dispersed, asking the victim to slip so that he was hit by a knife by the perpetrators. The victim reported to the police.

Following up on this information, Saturday, February 17, officers arrested BP perpetrators. After being interrogated, BP admitted that he had committed the act of persecution with five other colleagues.

Based on BP's statement, officers managed to secure five other perpetrators along with evidence that was brought to the Banyumas Police Satreskrim for further investigation.

"The evidence that we have secured includes a machete, a golf stick, a long sickle, a Honda Scoopy motorbike, a Honda Vario motorbike, and a Honda Beat motorbike", said the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit.

The perpetrators were charged with cases of abuse which were carried out jointly using sharp weapons as referred to in Article 170 paragraph 1 to 2e of the Criminal Code, with a threat of 9 years in prison.
