Central Java Police Urges The Public To Beware Of Hoax Content After The 2024 Election

JAKARTA - The sound of the 2024 General Election on February 14 yesterday, the Central Java Police appealed to the public to be aware of the hoax news circulating. The Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Police, Kombes Satake Bayu, said that there were a number of hoax content that often appeared during elections, and was considered to provoke the public.

The content of the hoax, said Satake, must be watched out for by the public. Therefore, the Central Java Police appealed to the public to be careful of information that is not true or misleading.

"It is hoped that the public will not swallow all the information received either from social media or through chain messages, check and check, also cross-check the information obtained and test its validity before disseminating it. People should not be provoked by hoax news that has not been tested. the truth," said Kombes Satake in a written statement, Sunday, February 18.

According to Satake, the content disseminated through social media is related to narratives that are provoking.

According to him, there is a mechanism that has been regulated regarding this matter. For example, related to violations or allegations of fraud in the implementation of elections, it can be reported to the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) or through channels provided by the state.

"We urge the public to remain calm, don't be easily provoked by content (hoaxes) which is not necessarily true. If there is a problem, please take the mechanism that has been determined," he concluded.
