Muhadjir Effendy Promises To Build Water Shelter In Medan Belawan

MEDAN - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) RI Muhadjir Effendy promised to build a water reservoir tank in Belawan Bahari Village, Medan Belawan.

"Later in this area, a clean water reservoir tank will be built so that residents can use it for their daily needs," said Muhadjir accompanied by North Sumatra Governor Hassanudin and Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, February 18.

In addition, Muhadjir promised, improvements will be carried out for residents' houses whose conditions are unfit for habitation in dialogue with residents of Belawan Bahari Village.

He explained that the arrangement of the area was carried out as an effort to emphasize extreme poverty in Belawan Bahari Village through an environmental approach.

The regional arrangement carried out is based on the collaboration between the Medan City Government and the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture and other relevant ministries to make people's lives better and healthier.

Covering a number of aspects, including drainage channels and drainage normalization, clean water construction, and reduce-reuse-recycle (TPS3R) waste treatment areas.

Then the construction of paving blocks, vegetation, street lights, green open spaces, fish drying, non-elligible house arrangement and construction of tidal flood control infrastructure.

It is known that Belawan Bahari Village is one of the northernmost areas of Medan City and is a regular tidal flood every month that often hit residential areas.

"Later we will repair houses that are not suitable. In fact, flats will also be built so that our people here can live better, the environment is healthier and more comfortable. Our message, when this is over, please take care and maintain the cleanliness," said Muhadjir.

After the dialogue, Muhadjir together with Hassanudin and Bobby Nasution handed over food aid for government food reserves in the form of 10 kilograms of rice to representatives of residents in the yard of the Belawan Bahari Village office.

They also took the time to review the location for handling extreme poverty in Environment VIII, Belawan Bahari Village, Medan Belawan District.

Two houses have been repaired, namely Jasmi and Roslina's. The two residents expressed their gratitude for the attention the government has given them.
