West Java Bulog Guarantees Sufficient Rice Stock To Ramadan And Eid

The rice stock in the West Java region is sufficient for needs until Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2024 (doc. West Java Provincial Government).

JAKARTA - The Head of Bulog for the West Java Region, M. Attar Rizal, guarantees that the rice stock is sufficient for needs up to Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. Bulog will continue to distribute rice stocks to the market according to the orders of the head office.

"The rice stock controlled by West Java Bulog is 93 thousand tons and on the way is 40 thousand tons. So, the total rice stock in West Java Bulog will reach 133 thousand tons," said Attack.

The stock will be used for SPHP rice distribution activities (Stability of Supply and Food Prices), both traditional markets and modern retail, Cheap Food Movement (GPM) activities, distribution of Food Aid, and stabilization of premium rice.

"For this food aid after the 2024 election, we will continue the distribution again," said Attar.

In 2024, Perum Bulog Kanwil West Java will distribute 44,000 tons of Food Assistance per month to be distributed to 4.4 million beneficiary families in West Java.

"From the beginning of January 2024, we have poured 17 thousand tons of SPHP rice into markets, both traditional and modern. We will continue to continue this distribution to curb the rate of increase in rice prices in the market," said Attar.

Attar further said supply to traditional markets is carried out at least once a week. Meanwhile, for modern retail, it will be adjusted to the requested request.

"Apart from imports through Patimban and Tanjung Priok Ports which will continue, we will optimize rice supplies from within the country during the harvest period."

"For West Java, the harvest is estimated from April to May 2024. This harvest period is delayed due to the drought caused by El Nino. So, our stock will continue to grow," he said.
