DKI KPU Ensures That KPPS Rights Died While On Duty Fulfilled

JAKARTA - The General Election Commission (KPU) of DKI ensures that the rights of members of the polling group (KPPS) who died are fulfilled according to regulations in the implementation of the 2024 General Election.

"We have asked the city-level KPU to be processed according to existing regulations," said DKI Provincial KPU Chairman Wahyu Dinata as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, February 16.

Wahyu explained that his party continues to prioritize communication with the family regarding the rights concerned. He asked the city-level KPU to be able to guarantee the health of KPPS members who are sick or die to get rights or assistance. "There is assistance from the city-level KPU," he added.

However, Wahyu did not specify what would be accepted by the rights of KPPS members who died in accordance with the rules of the 2024 General Election.

Hingga kini, tercatat sebanyak dua orang anggota KPPS meninggal dunia di Jakarta akibat kelemahan dan mengalami kecelakaan. Pertama, Ketua KPPS Tempat Pemungguran Suara (TPS) Nomor 70 Kelurahan Rawa Badak Utara, Iyos Rusli meninggal dunia saat menjalankan tugas melakukan pencalumuhan suara pada Rabu (14/2) malam.Secondara, seorang petugas KPPS meninggal dunia api AJ (24) setelah mengalami kecelakaan tunggal di Jakarta Pusat, saat ingin mengangkut logistical dari Kelurahan Kebon Kacang ke Pusanggagagaraga (GOR) Tanah Abang.Data KPU RI menyebutkan, sebanyak 894 petugas KPPS Pemilu 2019 meninggal dunia dan 5,175 orang mengalami sakit.Sementmentara, KPU DKKKKKKKKI mencatat sebanyak 31 petugas KPPS yang ada di Jakarta meninggal dunia pada Pemilu 2019 dan karenya diharapkan KPU terus melakukan evaluasi.

Previously, RI KPU member Mochammad Afifuddin hoped that the number of KPPS members who died due to fatigue would not increase.

According to him, the KPU has made every effort to mitigate this, starting from medical tests, age restrictions to cooperation with regions in fulfilling a number of their rights such as compensation and others if there is a risk.
