MUI Deputy Regarding The 2024 Presidential Election: While Waiting For The Real Count To Stay Patient To Do Positive Things

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) KH Marsudi Syuhud appealed to all parties to wait for the results of the 2024 General Election (Pemilu) from vote counting collected at all polling stations (TPS) by the General Election Commission (KPU). "All of us, the Indonesian nation has tried hard to find the best leader, our obligation today. While waiting for the real count, stay patient and do positive things for our nation," Marsudi said in an official statement in Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, February 15. Marsudi also expressed his gratitude because the Indonesian people have gone through campaign times that are draining energy and mind, as well as feelings that sometimes make the situation hot. To address this, he invited the whole community to remain cold, peaceful, and prioritize the common good. Regarding the results of the quick calculation as a sign of victory, Marsudi reminded all parties to remain reasonable without being excessive. "For those who have not been able to receive the results of the quick count as a sign of victory, there is still a lot of time to wait for the real count by the KPU," he added. He hopes that those who have not been able to receive the results of the quick calculation can continue to do various positive things in accordance with the laws and regulations in force in Indonesia as a state of law. This, according to Marsudi, is because the core of a state that is mutamaddin and hasleading culture, is to adhere to the laws that have been agreed upon. Thus, if anyone considers shortcomings and fraud in organizing elections, the legal route is wide open to take. "The collapse of this legal route and in the future the Indonesian nation will become a civilized and advanced nation," said Marsudi. The 2024 election includes the Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections of the Republic of Indonesia, the Election for Members of the DPRD RI, the election for members of the provincial DPRD, and the election for district/city DPRD members with a final voter list (DPT) at the national level as many as 204,807,222 voters. Previously, the Indonesian KPU announced that there were 18 participants in the 2024 General Election, namely (according to the serial number) of the National Awakening Party (PKB), Gerindra Party, PDI Perjuangan, Golkar Party, NasDem Party, Labor Party, and the Gelora Indonesia Party. Next, Partai Keadilan Sejahtera (PKS), Partai Kebangkitan Nusantara (PKN), Partai Hanura, Partai Garuda, Partai Amanat Nasional (PAN), Partai Bulan Bintang (PBB), Partai Demokrat, Partai Solidaritas Indonesia (PSI), Partai Perindo, Partai Persatuan Pembangunan (PPP), and Partai Ummat. In addition, the election for legislative members (pileg) was also attended by six local political parties, namely the Aceh Nanggroe Party, the Atjeh Beusaboh Tha'at and Taqwa Generation Party, the Aceh Darul Party, the Aceh Party, the Aceh Prosperous Justice Party, and the Aceh People's Independent Solidity Party.

The Indonesian KPU has also determined the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential Election participants, namely the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar pair number 1, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka number 2, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md. serial number 3. According to KPU Regulation Number 3 of 2022, the recapitulation of the 2024 General Election is scheduled from February 15 to March 20, 2024.
