Odd-even In Jakarta Is Abolished Tomorrow

JAKARTA - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta, through the Transportation Service (Dishub), canceled the implementation of the odd-even vehicle number (Gage) on February 14, 2024 which was designated as a national holiday because it was voting day for the 2024 General Election.

"In connection with the implementation of the 2024 general election tomorrow, the odd-even rule will be abolished," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) Syafrin Liputo as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 13.

The provisions for the elimination of odd-even are contained in the Presidential Decree (Keppres) of the Republic of Indonesia Number 10 of 2024 concerning the Anniversary of General Elections in 2024 as National Holidays and General Election Commission Regulation Number 3 of 2022 concerning Stages and Schedules for the Implementation of General Elections in 2024.

In addition, continued Syafrin, this provision is also based on Governor Regulation (Pergub) 88 of 2019 article 3, which states that traffic restrictions with the odd-even system are not enforced on Saturdays, Sundays, and National Holidays stipulated by the Presidential Decree.

Syafrin said that although the odd-even rule was abolished, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government appealed to the public to maintain safety and comply with traffic signs while driving.

"We are advised road users to comply with traffic signs, instructions from officers in the field and prioritize road safety," said Syafrin.

Meanwhile, the Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto reminded personnel in the field not to underestimate and be complacent about the sloping situation.

Inspector General Karyoto ordered his staff to continue to carry out their duties according to the distribution of security tasks for the 2024 General Election that had been given.

In addition, there are also personnel on standby to secure a contingency situation that is ready to secure during the voting process and vote count.

He also advised that there be anticipation of turmoil or disputes in the field related to the results of vote calculations or distrust of officers in the process of voting and voting calculations.
