The National Police Follows Up On The Issuance Of The Presidential Decree On The Addition Of The Criminal Investigation Directorate

The National Police are following up on the formation of a new directorate after the signing of a Presidential Regulation on the Establishment of One Directorate at Bareskrim by President Joko Widodo, one of which is the placement of human resources and officers who will lead the directorate.

Assistant National Police Chief for Human Resources Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo said his institution had coordinated with the Head of Lempus Palemtala Srena Polri to discuss the follow-up after the signing of the Presidential Decree on the Establishment of the Directorate for the Protection of Women and Children (PPA) and the Crime of Trafficking in Persons (PPO) Bareskrim.

However, the first step taken after the issuance of the Perpres is to formulate the latest Polri regulations.

"Srena will follow up with the preparation of the fifth amendment perpol to the SoTK Perkap at the National Police Headquarters level," said Dedi.

Dedi explained that the regulation of the National Police (perpol) for changes prepared by the National Police Srena was the fifth amendment to the National Police Chief Regulation Number 6 of 2017 concerning Organizational and Work Procedures (SOTK) at the National Police Headquarters Level.

The Perpol contains SOTK and a list of personnel arrangements (DSP) which will later go through harmonization with the Ministry of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform and also involve the Ministry of Finance regarding the budget for approval of the number of structures under it.

"Then together with the Legal Division, they submitted a Perpol to the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. Later, after the issuance of the Perpol, SSDM will only follow up," said Dedi.

The follow-up by the National Police SSDM is to fill in the personnel and officers who will lead the new directorate.

The establishment of the PPA Directorate is the discourse of the Head of the National Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, which was conveyed when it was released at the end of 2021.

The development of the PPA Directorate is part of the transformation program of the National Police organization promised by the National Police Chief in a fit and proper test last year.

"This case of crimes against women and children is our concern, how in handling it should not let the victim become a victim twice," Sigit said in the release.

Previously, President Joko Widodo signed a presidential regulation (perpres) regulating the addition of one directorate within the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) institution.

As monitored from Jdih.setneg.go.id, Tuesday, Presidential Decree Number 20 of 2024 concerning the Third Amendment to Presidential Decree Number 52 of 2010 concerning the Organizational and Work Procedure of the Indonesian National Police was determined and signed by President Jokowi in Jakarta on February 12, 2024.

In Article 20 Paragraph 5 of the Presidential Regulation, it is stated that Bareskrim consists of at most 7 directorates, 3 central and 4 bureaus. This provision changed the previous rules governing that Bareskrim consisted of at most 6 directorates, 3 central and 4 bureaus.

The consideration of the issuance of the Presidential Decree is to optimize the implementation of the duties and functions of handling and eradicating criminal acts, trafficking in persons and human smuggling by the National Police.

Presidential Decree was promulgated in Jakarta by Minister of State Secretary Pratikno dated February 12, 2024, and has been in effect since it was promulgated.
