PASER Kanitreskrim Polsek Batu Sopang, Aipda Kiswanto, died after being beaten by a resident with the initials IN (37) while trying to thwart the circulation of illegal fuel oil (BBM) in Batu Butok Village, Batu Sopang District, Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, Tuesday 17 December.

The victim died at the scene after being hit fatally in the head in a fight with the perpetrator. This tragic incident shocked the residents of Batu Butok Village.

"Kanitreskrim Polsek Batu Sopang passed away," said Paser Police Chief, AKBP Novy Adi Wibowo, when giving information.

The police chief explained that the incident began with information received by the Batu Sopang Police regarding a suspicious pickup car carrying hundreds of liters of illegal Pertalite fuel. The car is known to have drove from South Kalimantan to Batu Sopang District.

The pickup then stopped in front of a shop in Batu Butok Village. A team from the Batu Sopang Police, led by Aipda Kiswanto, immediately went to the location to check the cargo of the car.

When two police officers questioned the pickup driver about the contents of the cargo, Aipda Kiswanto went straight to the back of the car to check the contents. Suddenly, the perpetrator IN appeared from behind the victim and immediately hit the victim in the head. The fight between the victim and the perpetrator was inevitable.

Seeing this incident, other police officers immediately secured the perpetrator. However, after the fight ended, the victim, who had stood up, suddenly fell down and was unconscious. When rushed to the hospital, the victim was declared dead.

The perpetrator with the initials IN has been detained at the Paser Police Headquarters for an intensive examination. The police also secured evidence in the form of pickup cars along with illegal Pertalite fuel cargo.

After undergoing the post-mortem process, Aipda Kiswanto's body was handed over to the family. The victim was buried in a local public cemetery with full respect.

The Paser Police Chief emphasized that his party would thoroughly investigate this case. "We will ensure that the legal process runs fairly. This is a sorrow for the Police and also a reminder that our members often face great risks while carrying out their duties in the field," said AKBP Novy.
