ATM Machine In Kediri Broken Into, Police Search For Perpetrators

KEDIRI - Kediri City Police, East Java, handled a case of vandalism accompanied by the burglary of the Bank Jatim automated teller machine (ATM) in Pesantren District.

The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Iptu Dodik Wargo Islamic Boarding School, stated that the burglary of the Bank Jatim ATM machine was discovered at around 06.00 WIB.

Kasus tersebut diketahui berawal dari laporan warga yang mau mengambil uang. Yang bersangkutan karena saat masuk ke dalam ruangan ATM ternyata menemukan mesin rusak.

"Initially there were customers who wanted to take money, then when they went to the ATM, they saw that the ATM machine was damaged. The engine was also cracked. The incident was also immediately reported to the police," said Dodik Wargo as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, February 12.

He said the members also went directly to the ATM location in Pesantren District, Kediri City after receiving the report. The officers then coordinated with Bank Jatim and conducted an investigation at the scene.

The police then processed the crime scene at the location. In addition, the officers also asked for statements from a number of witnesses who might find out about the incident in order to uncover the case.

"We went to the scene and coordinated with Bank Jatim to track CCTV footage. It turned out that CCTV inside was also damaged by the perpetrators," he said.

He suspects that the perpetrator damaged the ATM machine and the safe cover. The ATM machine at the safe cover was opened as a result of being pryed out by the perpetrator. However, the person concerned failed to bring the money in the ATM machine and left the scene.

At the time of the incident, the ATM machine safe was intact. The police also continue to investigate the case. Police are trying to copy CCTV footage in the hope that it can be read.

Meanwhile, the location of the ATM has now been given a police line, which has no interest in entering is prohibited from crossing the police line. The location of the ATM machine is also close to the Kediri City office complex.
