Udayana Military Command Efforts To Peaceful Paths Regarding Incidents Of Attacks By TNI Members In Kerobokan

DENPASAR - Military District Command (Kodam) IX/Udayana seeks a peaceful route to resolve the problem between a group of young people and Company A member Yonif 900/Satya Bhakti Wirottama in the incident of the attack on the Futsal Kerobokan Field, Badung, Bali.

Head of Information for Kodam IX/Udayana Colonel Infantry Agung Udayana said the peace effort was pursued by the Udayana Regional Military Command after an in-depth examination of members of the TNI and also the alleged perpetrators who are currently still being investigated by the Badung Police Satreskrim investigators.

"This afternoon's plan (Friday 9/2) there will be mediation and peaceful passage. Yesterday (Thursday 8/2) at the police station, both from civilians and from the military, the military police have also investigated. Finally, the two of them agreed to make peace on the family path," said Kapendam Udayana as reported by ANTARA, Friday, February 9.

Colonel Agung said the Commander of the Unit would represent the military to resolve problems with peace. According to him, based on the findings in the field based on the statements of both parties, the incident occurred due to a misunderstanding that led to an attempted attack.

"The findings in the field found a misunderstanding, so there were two communication youths who happened to be one civilian military. There was a wrong perception in communicating, so the conclusion was that there was a miscommunication. The wrong perception led to a misunderstanding," said Kapendam.

Kapendam Udayana stated that the incident received attention from the Commander of the IX/Udayana Military Regional Command Major General TNI Harfendi. Pangdam Harfendi, according to Udayana, saw the incident more humanely and thoroughly so that there would not be prolonged divisions or conflicts considering that voting day was close.

Pangdam Harfendi emphasized that peaceful efforts are a strategic step to minimize the occurrence of social conflicts ahead of the voting day for the 2024 presidential election.

Pangdam Udayana Harfendi has even issued an order to all ranks not to be provoked by the incident and not to associate the incident with certain political movements.

"The commander ordered to avoid physical conflicts or conflicts with the community. The Commander in Chief remembers both verbal and written, as well as letters on behalf of the commander in chief to anticipate incidents like this are not brought into the political realm. This is sometimes what people are wrong, as if this is leading there," he said.

The Udayana Military Commander also hopes that the incident will not affect Bali's tourism conditions, which will improve in early 2024.

Regarding the Second Sergeant of STV, who was the victim of the attack, he had left the hospital and returned to duty as usual in his unit.

Previously, the attack on Raider 900 members with a group of unidentified people took place on Wednesday (7/2) night at the Big Ball Futsal Arena Jalan Raya Kerobokan, Badung Regency.

In that incident, about 30 unknown young people threw stones at TNI members in the futsal field. As a result, one of the members of the TNI Serda STV was injured.

The Badung Police who handled the case have arrested 10 suspected perpetrators and are still undergoing examination at the Badung Police.
