Tourism Bus Single Accident In Bantul, One Passenger Dies

JAKARTA - The Bantul Resort Police (Polres), Yogyakarta Special Region investigated the traffic accident that hit the Saestu Trans tourism bus which resulted in the death of a passenger in the Bukit Bego area of Jalan Imogiri-Dlingo, Imogiri District, Bantul Regency, on Thursday (8/2) afternoon.

Bantul Police Chief (Kapolres) AKBP Michael R Risakota in a press statement in Bantul, Thursday, said that the single accident that happened to the tourism bus occurred at 13:41 WIB. The green bus with police number E 7607 V rolled over and suffered damage to the windshield and left side of the bus.

"One passenger is known to have died, while several other passengers were injured and have been evacuated to the hospital," said the Bantul Police Chief, as quoted by Antara.

The police chief said, based on reports from officers in the field, the accident began when the tourism bus carrying the tourist group was about to go to Parangtritis Beach after traveling to the Puncak Beci tourist area, Mangunan, Dlingo.

"When the officers checked, the bus that had an accident was in a neutral gear position," said the Police Chief.

However, he said, the exact cause of the tourism bus traffic accident on the downhill road is still under investigation.

"We are still investigating the cause of the accident," he said.

Furthermore, the Bantul Police Chief also said that he did not know the exact number of passengers in the tourism bus group.

"For the exact number of bus passengers, our officers are currently recording it. We will convey further developments in the situation," he said.
