JAKARTA - Minister of Immigration and Correction (Imipas) Agus Andrianto said that the plan for convicts to receive amnesty and follow the Reserve Component or Komcad has not been decided. The government will still propose amnesty first before determining the continuation of the program.

Agus said the plan was not yet in the implementation phase. According to him, the amnesty proposal must first be submitted in accordance with the applicable mechanism.

"Not yet, not yet. Later we will submit the proposal to get amnesty," said Agus at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 7.

After that, the government will only see whether the Komcad program for convicts is really carried out or not.

"Later, according to the plan, whether the program will be carried out or not, we will see," he said.

Agus explained that one of the considerations for the plan was the age of the inmates who were still productive. The government wants them to be ready when they return to society.

"Yes, they are productive age, productive age," said Agus.

According to Agus, productive age inmates need to be directed so that they do not lose their readiness after serving their sentences. The program discussed is related to efforts to return them to social life.

"So that they are not complacent with it, yes, to restore their readiness to return to society, because they are productive," he said.

Agus has not explained the criteria for inmates who are potentially proposed to receive amnesty. He also has not detailed the type of crime, the number of inmates, or the mechanism if the Komcad program is eventually carried out.

For now, Agus only confirmed that the plan was still in the proposal and study stage.
