Professor Forum Urges Academics To Avoid Advertising Electoral Opinion

JAKARTA - A number of academics acting on behalf of the Professor Forum appeal to all academic community to avoid statements that can lead electoral opinions and place the interests of the nation and state.Chairman of the Presidium of the Indonesian Professor Forum Prof. Singgih Tri Sulistyono said, in responding to the increasingly heated development of national life, academics and scholars as well as community figures should convey better thought than to burn the situation. "Conciliation is more than enlivening, more solution than provocative," said Singgih in his statement received in Jakarta, Thursday.

The professor at Diponegoro University invited the academics and national scholars to become complaints by standing in the middle and nurturing, brightening when it is dark, and guiding the future.

According to him, academics and academics should not actually convey statements that can create an impression as if to attract electoral political opinion towards certain parties and negate other parties so as to ignite an atmosphere full of tension and conflict.
