Mahfud MD Calls The Political Dynasty Prohibited When Going Through The Constitution

JAKARTA - Candidate for vice president number 3 Mahfud MD emphasized that political dynasties are not prohibited in Indonesia. This practice can be found in other countries such as the United States. This was conveyed by Mahfud in response to questions from participants in the dialogue 'Tabrak Prof! with Mahfud MD' at Pos Bloc, Central Jakarta, Wednesday 7 February. "Dynastic politics is that if a dynasty or family is a fact to become an official, continuing the position of its father, father, brother, mother, it is actually no prohibition in any world," said Mahfud. However, Mahfud stressed, political dynasties are prohibited or problematic if they go through the law and constitution by utilizing power. "What is prohibited is if it is engineered, people who do not have the capacity to become officials but are found a way, clash with the law and step over the constitution," explained Mahfud.

Mahfud Md did not mention the name in question. The former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs said that there was the son of a ruler who became an official because of his achievements, not passing the law. "If the family wants to be an official, that's okay, in America it's the same everywhere, but the child is great, not because of the trend, not because he jumped over the law," concluded Mahfud.
