The Central Java High Court has sentenced a candidate for a member of the Purworejo Regency DPRD Muhammad Abdullah in a case of alleged election crime.
Head of the Intelligence Section of the Purworejo District Attorney's Office (Kejari) Issandi Hakim confirmed that the prosecutor's office had received a copy of the appeal decision from PT Jawa Tengah in the election criminal case.
"It has been received, the verdict is different from the first instance court," he said when contacted in Semarang, Antara, Wednesday, February 7.
In the appeal decision, the high court handed down a 6-month prison sentence with the condition that the crime does not need to be served unless within 1 year the defendant's trial commits another criminal act that can be convicted.
The criminal verdict is heavier than the verdict of the Purworejo District Court which sentenced him to 3 months in prison. In addition, the defendant was also sentenced to a fine of Rp. 12 million which if not paid will be replaced with imprisonment for 2 months.
Previously, Purworejo District Court sentenced a candidate for the Purworejo Regency DPRD Muhammad Abdullah to 3 months in a case of alleged election crime.
The defendant was proven to have violated Article 493 of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections.
The NasDem Party politician was proven to have carried out a campaign involving minors.
