Head of the Regional Office (Kakanwil) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkum) West Papua, Taufiqurrakhman, ordered all levels of the Sorong Correctional Institution (Lapas) to tighten supervision and vigilance in the face of a series of long holidays.

"The long series of Isra' Miraj and Chinese New Year holidays as well as to ensure the readiness for the 2024 General Election on February 14 will be concurrent, so vigilance and supervision must be increased in order to minimize unwanted things," said Taufiqurrakhman while leading a standby rally with officers and all residents assisted by the Class II Sorong Prison, West Papua, Wednesday, February 7, confiscated by Antara.

He asked the ranks of the Class II B Sorong Prison to learn from previous experiences, where dozens of inmates fled a few months ago.

"We must learn from previous experience to improve and strengthen supervision in the Class II B Sorong prison area," he said.

In addition, Kakanwil asked the correctional division to monitor the Correctional UPT which carries out election activities and increase security and vigilance for 24 hours by assisting staff and picket officers.

Also build coordination with the TNI, Polri, Fire Team and BPBD to assist in the implementation of security.

" Intelligence activities must also be increased. Do early detection of the activities of the inmates who have the potential to cause disturbances in security and order and supervise the inmates in cases that attract public attention," he said.

Improved supervision, he said, must pay attention to the addition of the security team. In addition, it is also necessary to optimize the activities of the Correctional Internal Compliance Operations Unit to ensure that all officers work according to the SOP.

On that occasion, the Head of Regional Office of the West Papua Ministry of Law and Human Rights reminded Kalapas and all structural officials at Class II B Prison not to leave their place of duty during the election.
