Yenny Wahid: Tebuireng Netral Islamic Boarding School Not Supporting Certain Paslons

JAKARTA - The daughter of the 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia KH Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur), Zannuba Ariffah Chafsoh, who is familiarly called Yenny Wahid, emphasized that the caretaker of the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes), Jombang Regency, East Java did not support any presidential and vice presidential candidate pair who contested the 2024 presidential election.

He claimed to have communicated directly with the caretaker of Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School KH Abdul Hakim Mahfudz alias Gus Kikin.

"I have communicated directly with the caretaker of the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, Gus Kikin, that the current position of the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School is neutral. So it is not true that someone is on behalf of the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School," Yenny said in a statement reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 7.

Yenny reminded that if there is a family of Tebuireng who supports certain candidate pairs, it is certain that it is a personal attitude. The support cannot be on behalf of the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, including him who is now the Advisory Council of TPN Ganjar-Mahfud.

"I am also a big family of the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School. However, when doing political activities out there, and it is clear that our support in Paslon 3, I will not be on behalf of the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School. This attitude is to maintain the dignity and honor of the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School. Don't bring it into practical political affairs," he said.

Previously, on Tuesday (6/2), the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, Jombang Regency, East Java, expressed their prayers and support for the victory of Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidate number 2, Prabowo Subianto - Gibran Rakabuming Raka in the 2024 General Election.

Support from the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, Jombang, was delivered directly by dzurriyah or descendants from KH Hasyim Asy'ari, who is the founder of the pesantren, namely Gus Irfan Yusuf, Gus Billy Wahid, Gus Yusuf Adnan Kikin and Gus Ivan Fahmi at the Tebuireng Declaration event at the pesantren.

"To invite all parties to exercise their voting rights in the February 14, 2024 elections. By supporting the Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka pairs as President and Vice President of Indonesia 2024-2029," said a representative from the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, Jombang, Gus Ivan in Jombang, Tuesday.

Gus Ivan said the support was an announcement. He hopes that the announcement of support for the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, Jombang to Prabowo-Gibran will be followed by students and alumni.

His party said that the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School also hopes that the 2024 Election contestation, which will take place on February 14, 2024, can run smoothly and peacefully. Tebuireng assessed the need for sustainable leadership in accordance with the spirit of protecting all parties.

According to him, as a pesantren that has a long history and has a big influence, Tebuireng's Declaration is considered to be very significant for its main Prabowo-Gibran voice in the santri base area.
