JAKARTA - The Populi Center survey institute released a public opinion poll regarding the 2024 presidential election one round. As a result, the majority of respondents chose only one round of the presidential election.

"In this survey, when asked how many rounds of the presidential election were liked, 79.9 percent answered 1 round, while those who answered 2 rounds were 16.6 percent," said Populi Center Executive Director Afrimadana in a survey presentation, Wednesday, February 7.

Meanwhile, 2.3 percent of respondents admitted that they did not mind the number of rounds of the presidential election, the remaining 1.2 percent did not answer.

When compared to the survey last January, the percentage of respondents who wanted the one-round presidential election was 78.7 percent. In December 2023, respondents who wanted the one-round presidential election were 70.3 percent.

"The data shows that there is a trend of increasing the number of people who want the presidential election to take place in 1 round," said Afrimadana.

Respondents who answered one round were asked why they wanted it. As a result, the majority or 41.2 percent voted because sooner there was certainty who would be the next president and vice president.

Then, 29.2 percent responded to the one round presidential election saving costs, 13.6 percent considered that the government and public services would return to normal, 12.1 percent reduced tensions in the community, 2.2 percent answered other reasons, and 1.7 did not answer.

"The majority of the community as much as 70.3 percent also answered confidently that the presidential election would be completed in 1 round, while the other 25.3 percent said they were not sure, and 4.4 percent did not answer," he explained.

This survey also describes the electability of the three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates. As a result, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka received the most electability, which was 52.5 percent.

This survey was conducted in the period from 27 January to 3 February 2024. The sample of respondents in this survey is spread across 38 provinces in Indonesia.
